How To Potty Train A Siberian Husky

Video by Sixty Formula on YouTube · Watch on YouTube. Local Husky isn't affiliated with this channel.

The video

Sixty Formula takes on the least glamorous husky topic: getting your dog to stop going to the bathroom in the house. The description reads like a list of panicked search terms ("how to get your husky to stop making accidents... how to housebreak your husky"), which tells you exactly who it's for.

Meet the dog and the channel

Sixty Formula is one of the biggest husky channels on YouTube. It had about 1.34 million subscribers when we checked in November 2026, and its descriptions list a P.O. box in Jacksonville, Florida. The channel makes the practical videos new owners look for: training, gear, and honest takes on what owning the breed is like. See also its 5-step training video and the truth about owning one.

How it blew up

The video went up on December 16, 2018, and had about 420,000 views when we checked in November 2026. It didn't go viral. It's a search staple, watched one desperate puppy owner at a time. We didn't find any press coverage.

Our take: potty-training videos aren't glamorous, but this is one of the videos new owners actually need. Watch it before the puppy comes home, not after the third accident on the rug. A clean puppy is also the first thing that makes a husky feel easy.

The husky science behind it

Huskies are generally considered clean dogs, almost catlike about grooming. Many potty-train fairly easily once they have a routine. Most "my husky won't potty train" problems are really about the schedule (too long between trips outside), cleanup (leftover smell tells the dog this is the spot), or excitement and submissive peeing in young dogs. Punishment backfires: the dog learns to hide when it goes, not to go outside.

A practical tip

Take the puppy out after every nap, meal and play session, and right after you take it out of the crate. Go to the same spot every time and say the same cue word. Reward within two seconds of the dog finishing, while you're still outside. Clean accidents with an enzymatic cleaner, not regular soap. A young puppy can generally hold it for about its age in months plus one hour, so don't push it.
