The video

K'eyush the Stunt Dog lists 10 reasons you might not want a husky, with each "reason" acted out by K'eyush himself. This is a recruiting video disguised as a warning. Shedding, noise, stubbornness, Houdini-level escapes: by the end you either want a husky more, or you've made a lucky escape.

Meet the dog and the channel

K'eyush (Key to his fans) was a husky-malamute mix owned by Jodie Barnard of Brixham, Devon, England. In 2017, the New York Post and Metro wrote about him as a dog who couldn't catch a ball. Barnard told reporters he "sometimes fails on purpose because it makes me laugh." The channel's fan site says he was 87.5% husky and 12.5% malamute. He became one of the biggest dog channels on YouTube, with about 2.14 million subscribers when we checked in November 2026. Sadly, K'eyush died suddenly in February 2025. Geek Alabama covered the tribute video Jodie posted that month.

How it blew up

The video went up on November 8, 2021, and had about 1.6 million views when we checked in November 2026. There was a part two. K'eyush's channel was already big by then, so this was a solid performer for an established channel, not a viral breakout. His breakout was the bad-at-fetch clip in 2017.

The husky science behind it

Most of the "reasons not to get a husky" are breed traits doing exactly what they were bred to do. Huskies were bred to run far, so they have huge exercise needs and a habit of bolting. They were bred to live in groups, so they're vocal and don't like being left alone. They were bred for the Arctic, so they have a double coat that blows out twice a year. None of that is a flaw. It's just bad fit for a lot of households.

A practical tip

Before you get a husky, do the honest test. Could you give it an hour of real exercise every day, in the rain, for 12 to 15 years? Would you be fine with hair on everything? Do you have a fence a husky can't climb or dig under? If any of those is a "maybe," look at a rescue's adult dogs first, so you know exactly what you're getting.
