What it's REALLY Like Owning a Siberian Husky!

The video

Gone to the Snow Dogs skips the polished highlight reel and shows the unedited version of life with several Siberian Huskies. The description sums it up: "Huskies are loud, huskies are crazy at times, but they can also be calm and sweet too!" Then it adds the question every husky owner eventually asks: "or do they own me?"

Meet the dog and the channel

Gone to the Snow Dogs is the long-running husky channel of a family in Alpena, Michigan (the P.O. box on their site). Their site describes it as a digital media company that has been making husky videos since 2009, with about 1.51 million subscribers when we checked in November 2026. The pack has changed over the years. The site's family page lists Shelby, Memphis, Oakley and Shiloh, their first husky, who died in 2013. Kira joined as a puppy in 2019 (see her homecoming video), and the channel's 2026 shedding video features Eleanor and a senior Memphis.

How it blew up

The video went up on March 4, 2023, and had about 211,000 views when we checked in November 2026. That's modest for this channel. Raw day-in-the-life videos rarely go viral, but they're the ones people looking for an honest take on owning a husky end up watching. We didn't find any press coverage.

Our take: this is the most honest kind of husky video, and the least edited. If the noise and chaos here sound fun to you, you're probably a husky person.

The husky science behind it

What looks like chaos in a multi-husky house is usually social behavior. Huskies were bred to live and work in teams, so they play rough, talk to each other constantly, and set off each other's zoomies. That's also why many huskies do better with a canine companion. The downside is noise and energy multiplied by however many dogs you have.

A practical tip

If you're thinking about a second husky, wait until the first one has solid basic manners. Two untrained huskies teach each other bad habits faster than you can teach good ones. Plan for separate training time with each dog, and two crates or rooms so either dog can get a break.
