Groomer Explains How To Reduce Husky Shedding
The video
A professional groomer shows a technique, line brushing, that she says can "significantly reduce shedding." It's about seven minutes long, and it's the most useful practical grooming video in this collection. There's no drama, just a technique you can use the same day.
Meet the dog and the channel
The groomer is Katlin Primrose, described in the video description as an "Expert Dog Groomer," at Primpaws Grooming Academy. The academy's website has a companion page on husky shedding and line brushing, with the tools and techniques used in the video. The YouTube channel is small, with about 1,400 subscribers when we checked in November 2026. The academy is the main business, and the channel supports it. We didn't find a public source for the husky's name.
How it blew up
The video went up on March 14, 2020, and had about 142,000 views when we checked in November 2026. That's about 100 views per subscriber, almost all from search. "How to reduce husky shedding" is one of the most-searched husky questions there is, and this video answers it directly. We didn't find any press coverage.
Our take: this is the single most useful grooming technique for husky owners, explained clearly in a few minutes. Watch it before you buy another de-shedding gadget. Your couch will notice the difference within a week.
The husky science behind it
Line brushing means parting the coat in a line so you can see the skin, brushing the hair below the part outward from the skin, then moving the part up a little and repeating. It matters for huskies because their undercoat sits under the guard hairs. Brushing over the top layer, which is what most owners do, leaves most of the loose undercoat in place. That's why the dog keeps shedding on the couch. Getting all the way to the skin is the point.
A practical tip
Work in small sections, starting at the back legs and working forward. Use a slicker brush along the part line, then check with a metal comb. If the comb glides from skin to tip, that section is done. Don't brush so hard that the skin gets pink. Brush burn is real, and it makes huskies hate brushing even more.
